What is Forensic Agrology?

Forensic Agrology is the science of investigating agricultural incidents using independent, evidence-based methods to produce reliable findings for insurance claims, mediation, arbitration, and legal proceedings. A Forensic Agrologist applies scientific principles to determine what happened, why it happened, and the extent of any damages.

Agriculture is constantly evolving. New crop varieties, pesticides, fertilizers, production practices, and environmental conditions require investigators to remain current with the latest research and investigative techniques. A qualified Forensic Agrologist provides objective, impartial opinions based on evidence—not assumptions.

Has Your Crop or Property Been Damaged?

If you are dealing with crop damage, spray drift, livestock damage, contamination, or another agricultural dispute, an independent investigation is often the first step toward resolving the issue.

We provide confidential, third-party investigations that include:

  • Detailed site inspections
  • Documentation of symptoms and damage
  • High-resolution photography
  • GPS mapping and sample location verification
  • Collection and preservation of plant, soil, water, and other evidence
  • Drone imagery
  • Independent laboratory testing through accredited facilities
  • Preparation of professional reports suitable for insurance, mediation, or court proceedings

George Lewko, PAg, is certified by Transport Canada to operate Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), allowing aerial documentation of agricultural sites safely and accurately.

Areas of Investigation

We investigate a wide range of agricultural issues, including:

  • Herbicide spray drift

  • Livestock damage (including cattle and bison)
